Media Center

Philosophy

The broad goal of the library media center—and, therefore, the foundation of the curriculum—is to be a place where students, teachers and parents can, with the guidance of the media specialist, access information and pursue ideas. According to the New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards, "the library media center is the hub of all information resources— [electronic] and print..." Thus, the specific goals of the library media center must be continually reviewed and updated as technology and instructional needs change. These goals are realized through a sequentially-developed curriculum of literature enrichment, library skills, multimedia technology and print information retrieval from grades kindergarten through sixth. The students and community members have continual access to the media specialist and our resources. The school library media center strives to be a place of service to all the community.
