Immunization Requirements

New Jersey Health & Senior Services approved amendments to the state's immunization rules, which will require additional vaccinations for children.

All students attending a pre-school program must receive an annual Influenza Vaccine and one dose of the Pneumoccoccal Vaccine.

Children entering the sixth grade must receive one dose of Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis). However, children who received a Td booster less than five years ago, shall not be required to receive a Tdap dose until five years have elapsed from the last dose of tetanus. In addition, every child must also receive one dose of the Meningococcal Vaccine before entering sixth grade.

New Jersey law governs the school immunization requirements and provides that children may be excluded by the school administration for non-compliance. Immunization requirements can be found under "Wellness Check-Ups" on the School Health Information page on the Immunization Record Sheet.
